镀锌钢板从生产工艺上分有电镀锌及热浸镀锌两种。简单来说，电镀锌指借助外界直流电的作用，在溶液中进行电解反应，

使钢板（导电体金属）的表面沉积一层金属或合金层（锌）；热镀锌钢板是以冷热轧钢带为基板经过连续热浸镀锌工艺而生产出来的，

其耐腐性能超过电镀锌品种，也是建筑中最常用的。由于锌的保护特性，镀层的厚度就成为考核镀锌钢板的指标之一。

热浸镀层表面在凝固时均出现镀层金属的结晶花纹，结晶花纹的大小与锌液中其它合金元素的种类及含量、结晶核多少、原板厚度及光滑度、

镀锌层厚度、锌花晶体的生长时间等因素有关。早期的镀锌钢板由于锌液中常混有铅显示出灰暗的锌花，

现代的镀锌钢板由于镀层合金的控制常显现出银白色光亮的效果。
